About the event
Admission due upon museum entry. Come explore the cosmos through the Native perspective with the Ani-Noquisi Special Exhibit at the MIP. Ani-Noquisi is Cherokee for Star Nation. Learn about the relationship between indigenous cultures and celestial bodies as reflected in stories and artwork throughout the ages and come to understand the special appeal of science fiction for Native people. At 1 PM on opening day, June 3, the public is invited to join us for a special appearance by Hopi R2 Droid, its engineer, Joe Mastroianni, and Duane Koyawena, the artist who designed the droid’s Hopi embellishments. As an additional treat, the Prescott Powwow Committee will be preparing their delicious frybread to support the 2023 and 2024 Powwow. Regular museum admission rates apply.
The Ani-Noquisi Special Exhibit will orbit in the Museum of Indigenous People June 3 through June 2024.
